Custom Environmental Chamber

Listed below are instructions on how to build a custom environmental chamber for an atomic force microscope (AFM).  Studies have shown that variations in humidity and temperature can significantly alter the properties and behavior of both the micro-cantilever and the material being investigated.  The custom chamber is small in size and can sustain humidity levels within a range of 3-90%, which is well within the range of most AFM-based experiments. Although the chamber is not currently equipped with temperature control, it can be easily upgraded should the need for temperature control arise.  As completed, the custom chamber serves to increase the repeatability of AFM based experiments by eliminating environment induced data fluctuations.
